Job Details

The Web author takes the content provided by content workflow and creates/updates the pages for our website. As part of the eCommerce operations team, this role is responsible for completing requests submitted from key stakeholders such as marketing, corporate communications, international affiliates and the user experience team to ensure that targeted deadlines are met.

Job Purpose

By using a combination of independent thinking and problem solving, successfully and accurately complete the loading of content to a webpage and validation after pages are published. Efficiently communicate with Content Workflow and key stakeholders to deliver relevant and accurate information about a webpage. Ensure timely activation and deactivations of pages on the website. Provide timely updates on requests and proactively communicate concerns. Occasionally aid in testing of new versions of CMS tool.

Essential Job Results

The Web Author will create compelling pages, sourcing content from the Content/SEO resource as well as internal stakeholders. Once complete, validate changes are live, resolve requests by entering information into proprietary systems and sending completion notifications. Maintains the accuracy of information with attention to detail and problem solving skills, in an efficient manner to maintain Service Level Adherence Targets as defined by the company. Proactively reviews data for compliance with defined parameters based on information in operational playbook and author guides. Recommends alternative solutions when necessary. Contributes to team effort by communicating with peers and other departments. Participates in special projects as assigned. A self-motivated individual will enjoy out of the box thinking, creativity, and helping others achieve their goals while still being able to enforce processes and rules in a professional manner.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years working in Web Author related position
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years related experience in marketing/eCommerce
  • 3-5 years of professional experience with increasing responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with any CMS platform as well as digital assets
  • Understanding of user workflow creation and approval processes within the CMS
  • Ability to use Photoshop to optimize assets
  • Editorial requirements include basic SEO understanding, content categorization and structure
  • Editorial governance so content is consistent with our brand voice, style and tone.

Candidate that would Standout: Someone with experience working with content workflow. Paying attention to detail and noticing things that other people will notice (page layout, grammar, etc.). Someone who is passionate about the role and can participate in open dialogue about the project.

  • Oversee that translation requests and submissions to pages, are created globally and in a cost efficient manner

Knowledge

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic understanding of hotel/hospitality industry

  • This person is to communicate concerns and updates to Content Workflow.
  • This position reports to the Mgr. Operations, eCommerce and will be located at our Global Operations Center. Works under general supervision, follows established procedures and recommends process improvements where appropriate and applicable
  • Ensures timely updates of copy assets and or page creations
  • Brainstorms new ideas and offers solutions on executing site related projects
  • Efficiency and Responsibility; someone who’s great at finding the shortest distance between point A and point B – then clearly articulate that journey and influence people to make it happen
