Job Description

Our client has an immediate need for a junior level Technical Writer for their office in the Midtown area of metro Atlanta. This is a direct hire role with a company in the finance industry that has an excellent benefits package. In this role, you use your creativity to design effective and attractive content that will allow our users to clearly understand and enjoy using our products. As part of a cross-functional team, you will be responsible for all end user product content, such as release notes and online help content. Your writing talents and skills will ensure that content is accurate, clear, and concise. Content needs to describe not only how to use a specific feature in the application but also lead the user to this information through scenario-based design.

What you'll be doing:

  • Write, maintain, and design end user help content using MadCap Flare.
  • Develop consistent standards and use them across all content
  • Work closely with the Product Management, Development, and Quality Assurance teams to align feature and content delivery
  • Collaborate with Service Delivery and Support teams to gain knowledge on our internal and external users to build effective content
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings
  • Work with Marketing to ensure messaging and branding are carried through all user documentation
  • Own all aspects of the documentation process, from planning to publishing

Must Haves:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related field, preferred
  • 2+ years of experience developing online Help or related background
  • Experience developing end user materials using Madcap Flare
  • A strong understanding of design including behavior patterns and system design
  • You have an understanding of how to design simple user interfaces
  • Ability to describe complex, technical topics clearly and accurately in a way that is appropriate for target audiences
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks with conflicting deadlines to ensure on-time completion
  • Comfortable talking to developers and other key technical personnel about software
  • Comfortable working with all levels of personnel from individual contributors to upper management.
  • Desirable experience:
    • Screen capture software, such as Snagit
    • JIRA, Confluence, or similar project tracking tools
    • Salesforce
