Support Specialist
Contract to Hire
York, PA
 
What you will be doing:

  • Will prepare all required documentation for shipping in accordance with all government or customer systems, applications, and databases.
  • Ensures the timely processing of company documents and maintains accurate shipping department records, files, and courier documents as required.
  • Provide instructions to internal and external shippers per our routing instructions. 
  • Plans, schedules, and routes inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments of freight, using knowledge of postal regulations, tariffs, and company policy.
  • Schedules with carriers, reconciles freight bills, prepares and negotiates claims, and selects or recommends carriers to ensure efficient, timely, and least expensive movement of goods and material.
  • Conducts research on transportation methods, rates, and routes.
  • Responsible for overall Transportation/Logistics operations analysis, evaluation of traffic information and any other requested duties. 
  • Responsible for maintaining, tracking and analyzing all inbound shipments, including working with carriers and the 3PL provider.
  • Draft and implement standard operating procedures to sustain a proactive compliance environment. Responsible for maintaining cost analysis reports.

 
Must Have:

  • 3-5 years of related experience in supply chain, transportation or logistics fields required.
  • Detailed background in TMS software; preferred Oracle experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Required education: High School/GED with 6 years’ experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer is required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook.

 
Preferred Skills:

  • Freight Audit experience.
  • Minimum 3 years direct import compliance experience with an understanding of US Customs Regulations, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and issues of import admissibility.
