Software Developer - Oracle

Location: Phoenix, AZ



Under direct supervision and the software development guidelines and technology standards defined by our Corporate IT, this position performs maintenance activities on existing software products to increase the effectiveness of the product for business use.


• A minimum of 3 years of software development or experience in: 

o Oracle Forms and Reports 
o Oracle Database and Application Servers 
o SQL, PL/SQL ((Packages, Procedures, Functions, and Triggers) 

• Experience in the following technologies is a plus 
o SOA methodology (Web Services, OSB, BPEL) 
o Java 
o XML Publisher 
o Oracle Workflow 
o Oracle DB/SQL Server 
o Application Developer Framework (ADF) 
o Linux shell scripting

Primary Accountabilities:


1. Assists other developers in the coding, testing and debugging of new software or making enhancement to existing software.

2. Works with direction from others to write programs according to given specifications to enhance and increase the effectiveness of existing software for end users.

3. May make suggestions or offer alternative resolutions for software problems or enhancements. 4. May assist in the development of users manuals and/or document changes made to the existing software.

5. Works with technical staff to learn and better understand problems or issues with software.

6. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.



A thorough knowledge and understanding of software development as typically obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field. Must have sufficient educational background and/or experience to qualify incumbent to perform entry-level work in software development. Two years of software development or experience in a related field is preferred. A general understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the software development field is required. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers and department staff, as described above. Must possess the ability to communicate well with others, to perform work in a team environment, direct and act as a resource for less experienced network administrators and relay necessary information as appropriate.



Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions.

Must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally.

Must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment.

Incumbent must be able to lift 20 lbs., perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions.
