Senior Network/Systems Administrator

As a Senior Network Administrator, you will be responsible for the architecture, design and implementation of an Enterprise infrastructure for domestic and foreign facilities. You will leverage your experience of network administration to assure 24X7 network accessibility to increase the efficiency of the business community. Key to success in this position will be effective multitasking skills in a dynamic and complex environment, strong collaboration and team building skills and a solid background in 24x7 production environment.  The successful candidate will have experience in infrastructure design, storage design, network server design and utilization, with focus on virtualization, NetApp storage, and Microsoft’s System Center products.

 The Senior Network Administrator will perform the following activities:

  • Ensure enterprise availability and security through management of Microsoft System Center products, including Configuration Manager, Operations Manager, and Virtual Machine Manager
  • Manage complex clustered server environments utilizing the latest technologies and setting global corporate standards
  • Direct management and ownership of highly-available virtualization and storage solutions
  • Manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with ability to balance and prioritize project tasks and support issues throughout the work day
  • Perform all aspects of network administration including hardware and software research, evaluation and installation; engineering and implementation of production systems, applications, and technology platforms; security administration; backup and recovery planning; disaster recovery planning; and execution, system, capacity planning; and development of policies, standards, and procedures related to the enterprise environment
  • Monitor, detect, diagnose, and correct problems associated with infrastructure systems
  • Develop strong relationships with both the business community and the IT organization and understanding of current business processes and industry best practices
  • Work collaboratively with the IT community implementing production network equipment to ensure reliable network access to increase the business community’s efficiency
  • Analyze, test, and implement infrastructure systems and monitoring utilities
  • Assure integrity, availability, security, and recovery of network data
  • Work with business community to resolve hardware and software issues to minimize loss of productivity
  • Ensure help desk tickets assigned are processed and completed timely and accurately
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate to appropriate level of responsibility
  • Perform professional customer service including help desk ticket follow-up to ensure the business community’s needs are met
  • Inventory and update hardware and software asset databases
  • Complete monthly scheduled preventative maintenance processes during non-business hours
  • Participate in On-Call rotation to ensure 24x7 support of the business

Job Qualifications

  • Solid experience (6+ years) as a Network Administrator in a LAN/WAN environment
  • 8+ years’ experience in a Microsoft Server environment
  • Experience in a service management environment and ITIL certification preferred
  • Experience with a highly available virtualized environment running on Microsoft Hyper-V and Virtual Machine Manager preferred; experience in an equivalent virtual environment required
  • Experience managing NetApp storage preferred; experience in an equivalent storage environment required
  • Experience managing Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Operations Manager and Microsoft Active Directory required
  • Experience managing and administering Microsoft Windows physical and virtual server environment
  • Experience with Microsoft server products including Exchange, Skype, Active Directory, Systems Center Operations Manager, Systems Center Configuration Manager, and Terminal Server preferred
  • Experience in planning, implementing and executing disaster recovery procedures required
  • Experience in developing formal project plans and in leading projects and providing technical guidance and support
  • Solid analytical, problem identification and resolution skills to quickly resolve system failures to minimize outages and network interruptions in a 24X7X365 systems environment
  • Strong customer service, team building and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to lift and or move equipment in excess of 50 pounds
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
