Job Description




• BE AVAILABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING SHIFTS – INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS
• Possess ability to learn and understand overall PTC network at a system level
• Be an effective verbal and written communicator
• Be willing and able to work with a team in a highly stressful environment 





Required Skills & Experience

  • Perform daily activities of the Operations Center, which include but are not limited to the following: 
    • Monitor, interpret, and properly react to alerts and alarms from the Network Management System (NMS)
    • Initiate problem resolution processes to correct abnormalities, working closely with NOC, Signal (SOC) Telecommunications (TSOC), Mechanical, Vendors, other personnel as necessary 
    • Provide leadership and exercise resourcefulness in accomplishing repairs to the PTC infrastructure 
    • Interact with field personnel, executive leadership, train dispatchers, government agencies, and law enforcement agencies in a professional manner
    • Provide technical assistance for other individuals as needed to produce required results. These individuals may be other employees, contracted services providers, or suppliers of products or services and may or may not be located in Fort Worth
    • Accurately document and report issues and actions taken in the resolution process
    • Perform data management duties (database entry)
    • Provide PTC statistical reporting as required (database query)
    • Research, compile, develop, and summarize material for reports on a frequent or recurring basis
    • Assist with installation, configuration and testing of system hardware, software, operating systems and management systems
    • Perform safety critical duties as required by Federal Code of Regulations parts 214, 234, and 236
    • Perform other duties as required


Desired Skills & Experience

  • • Network Operations experience in one or more of the following departments, Signal, Telecommunications, and/or Mechanical departments is a plus
    • Experience with computer networking, radio communications, locomotive ‘On Board’ electronic systems or railway ‘Signaling’ systems is desired
    • A Bachelor of Science or a Technical degree in Electronics, Computer Science or related technical field is strongly desired but not required
    • Be comfortable using Microsoft office products such as Access, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Word
    • Be familiar with Linux OS and commands
    • Ability to communicate at appropriate levels within the organization and fit information delivery to the audience
    • Applicant should possess an ability to type 40 WPM or more
