Network Administrator
Frisco, TX

The Network Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. This position will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems, in conjunction with the help desk support team which they will manage.  The Network Administrator will be responsible for providing 24x7 network support by remaining available during non-business hours for emergency support issues.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Network management of LAN / WAN, intranet and Internet systems
  • Maintain and administer related hardware and software, including servers, routers, switches, hubs, and peripherals, and manage licenses for all operating systems and related software
  • Manage site-to-site VPN connectivity with multiple vendors
  • Manage Office 365 users, connectivity and service
  • Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades
  • Perform system backups and recovery
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors and outsourcers to secure network products and services
  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights, and provide users with network technical support
  • Assist with developing and implementing policies, procedures and training plans for network resource administration and appropriate use
  • Assists with planning, communication, testing, and implementation of disaster recovery procedures
  • Analyze network use and offer suggestions for upgrades and improvements
  • Perform server and security audits
  • Oversee the help desk support staff, and make recommendations on personnel requirements
  • Provide daily oversight and direction on job responsibilities and workflow
  • Manage work schedules, absences, and overtime to ensure appropriate coverage and on-call support as required
  • Determine performance measures and benchmarks, and perform performance evaluations and disciplinary actions
  • Provide guidance and leadership to coach, mentor, and develop staff
  • Other duties as required

Must Haves:

  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Experience managing an IP based network consisting of multiple subnets and VLANs.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Experience configuring, managing and using some or all of the following platforms:
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2012
  • Active Directory
  • HP switches
  • SonicWall routers
  • EMC SAN storage
  • VMware


  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
  • 3-5 years related network administration experience
  • Certifications in networking technologies preferred
  • Must have experience working closely with users and management
  • Able to work under limited supervision and exercise independent judgment
  • Proactive with the initiative to identify needs and offer solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Can lead projects through complex tasks
  • Flexible and able to quickly adapt and learn new technologies
  • Must possess a positive attitude and want to be part of a team environment
