The Lead BI Developer assists with developing and implementing the strategic direction / roadmap with regard to Data Analytics and Self-Service Tools across the firm. This involves setting direction, guiding the planning process to develop the vision and business rationale, and establishing the overall approach. This role will lead the process, along with one/two developers, and have responsibility for coordinating with key stakeholders to gather information around problem and desired outcome, translate needs to an analytic solution, identify data sources and build methodologies around the solution. He/she will coordinate multiple projects and ensure the work products and processes of the project teams meet the defined standards and desired outcomes. This role requires a solid understanding of both the business and the technical aspects of BI, along with extensive knowledge of database administration, design, and interoperability. He/she must constantly reinforce the role of BI in the business, help drive organizational change to effectively influence the environment, and monitor industry trends and identify emerging technologies that should be adopted.

Engage with internal stakeholders from all areas of the business (Product, SEO, Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance) to understand their needs, provide analysis, and translate into an analytics and reporting solution framework. This will entail creative thinking and an ability to interpret unstructured requirements.
Lead the BI development process, with responsibilities such as identifying the appropriate data uses and data structures required for analysis in the business or functional area.
Be knowledgeable about the information required to support functional areas of the business. Ensures the right information is identified at the appropriate level of detail to assist in analysis of the business and enable modes of accessing and analyzing data that are most conducive to fulfilling the objectives of the business. 
Identify, implement, and maintain business intelligence tools, reports, and solutions by building physical data models, dimensional models and analytical cubes. 
Utilize internal/external data sources to develop and maintain dynamic and scalable dashboards to track key performance metrics for various businesses as well as specific sources of traffic, channels, or products.
Supervise, direct and coach BI development resources to ensure proper and timely delivery of solutions
Educate users on warehousing capabilities and support data stewardship and data quality programs
Design, code, test, and aggregate results from SQL queries to provide information to users.
Create technical documents that clearly explain BI solutions content, concepts, and data flows.
Best practice sharing: participate in translating industry best practices and disseminating them to different business and technology teams; aiding in the capability and competency building for UCBI’s BI practice.
Participate in the design, development, and analysis of data architecture and warehousing approaches.
Miscellaneous support: This support includes such things as testing, data quality, training, documentation, technical support and vendor management.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Operations Management, or other IT related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
5 to 7 years of demonstrated experience in a BI development role building data, reporting, and analytic solutions. Microsoft MCSA: SQL 2016 BI Development certification or similar preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server and related BI Stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), Tableau, Cognos, and Power BI.
Proven experience in managing and supervising development resources
Strong Dashboard Design skills from client use cases
Experience with Datawatch Monarch and Alteryx Designer a plus.
Expected knowledge and experience with Jira, Microsoft TFS, or similar development tracking tools.
Work experience in large banks, insurance companies, or other finance type companies preferred.
Proven ability to conduct fact finding and requirements solicitation sessions with technical and non-technical employees to evaluate user needs, practices, and understanding of potential business needs.
In-depth understanding of SDLC (software development life-cycle) in both waterfall and agile development methodologies.
Strong comfort level in developing technical documentation for SQL scripts, database structures, and multi-dimensional designs using tools like MS Visio and Pragmatic Workbench (SentryOne).
Strong written and verbal communication skills and have experience working on and communicating with fast-paced, dynamic teams.
Team-oriented, self-motivated, success-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Participates in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.
