The Cloud Technical Lead is an Infrastructure role responsible for the support, design, documentation, implementation and optimization of the Microsoft Azure cloud initiative. This role would be responsible to build and deploy a MS Azure cloud instance for North and South America aligned with the group architecture/policies/principles as well as understand and communicate the various processes and procedures which will be required to support this environment after the build is complete – for example, provisioning, business as usual support, etc…  These functions are currently provided by and external service provider, but will need to be deployed for the America’s instance of Azure.  Additionally, this resource should have broad datacenter knowledge to be able to prescribe an on premise or cloud solution based on business and technical requirements – therefore, datacenter skills such as server, storage, and network are also required.

What you will be doing:

  • Collaborate with the Cloud Competency Center in Asia and the Architecture team in Europe to define Architecture and technical approach Processes and procedures, Infrastructure services, Etc.
  • Manage establishment/enhancement of the America’s Azure cloud instance.
  • Build/Deploy the operational model with our infrastructure partner for support.
  • Document and communicate all the required processes which need to be defined/deployed.
  • Participate and implement the strategic “cloud decision tree” criteria for the application hosting.
  • Provide technical evaluations, consulting, design for projects as required by the business – these could be cloud or on-premise solutions based on standard architecture principles.
  • Develop and document operating practices and standards.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and incident resolution from server/infrastructure perspective in concert with the external service provider (who will provide hands-on activities) and recommend continuous improvement actions.
  • Evaluate the Root Cause Analysis documentation provided by the external service provider and follow up on the actions identified.
  • Contribute to the company’s technology roadmaps in collaboration with the Enterprise Architects.
  • Evaluate emerging technology and/or services.
  • Perform all aspects of Monitoring, Capacity Planning, Performance tuning and Optimization, and Lifecycle (obsolescence) of computer systems/solutions within the enterprise.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned.

Must Have:

  • Minimum requirement is a Bachelor Degree in Information Services/Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of working in an IS team with demonstrated experience in enterprise server solutions – including Physical, Virtual and Cloud implementations.
  • Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written).
  • Demonstrated Leadership and Initiative - At least 3 years’ experience in leading technical projects or technical team management.
  • Must be goal-oriented, persuasive, and work well both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Utilizes a systematic (Process Oriented) approach to design, optimization, trouble-shooting, problem solving skills, continuous improvement and simplification all areas within the scope of responsibility.  
  • Very good vendor management and vendor relationship management skills.
  • Effective negotiations, arbitration, and risk management skills.
  • Position will require travel within NA and internationally.
