BI Director

Location: Tempe, AZ

WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?

Directs and oversees high level strategic and tactical decisions for business intelligence tools and applications. Facilitates organizational data strategies for governance, design, implementation, integration and usage. Responsible for leading the design and maintenance of business intelligence applications. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Ensures that the use of business intelligence applications enhances business decision making capabilities

  • Hands on development
  • Directing the development, implementation and enterprise wide adoption of tools, systems, and processes designed to support the organization’s information and data needs.
  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day tactical team operations including: Data preparation, Data warehousing, Reporting, analytics, data exploration, Information delivery (portals, mobile), BI competency center or center of excellence (BICC or BI COE)
  • Manage financial aspects of the Business Intelligence Department, including purchasing and annual budgeting
  • Make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the Business Intelligence infrastructure and systems
  • Manage Business Intelligence and Software Development staffing, including recruitment, supervision, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent technology activities

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Bachelor's Degree - Computer Science, Analytics or related field
  • 6-8 years' experience in Business Intelligence
  • Technology Skills:
    • Expertise in IBM Cognos BI tools
    • Microsoft SQL and SSIS
    • Data warehouse as a business process
    • Data modeling, both logical and physical
    • Multidimensional data modeling, such as star schemas, relational databases, handling “slow-changing” dimensions/attributes;
    • Experience in and understanding of a wide variety of analytical processes (governance, measurement, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of the behavioral healthcare industry and related business needs as they relate to all aspects of information management
  • Think strategically and innovatively, possessing strong planning/analytical skills and problem solving capabilities
  • Excellent customer service philosophy, delivering the highest level of service and support to the firm and its clients
  • Strong verbal and communication skills, including the ability to succinctly translate technical and complex details
  • Proven skills to work effectively across internal functional areas in ambiguous and time-sensitive situations
  • Meticulous attention to detail, and ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Experience building, motivating and managing small to medium BI projects and teams
  • Results-oriented, take charge individual with high energy, enthusiasm, and commitment
