What You Will Be Doing: 

  • Data Center Operations Support
  • Perform ad hoc requests as directed by on-site management
  • Prepare and coordinate and receive incoming shipments
  • Compare packing lists with purchase details to ensure accurate make, model, and quantities are received
  • Perform hardware installations – rack / stack
  • Perform cable installations (routing, terminating) and testing
  • Perform hardware cabling troubleshooting
  • Support Service Manager processes (e.g. Service Request, Incident, Change) by creating, updating, and closing associated tickets
  • Perform physical audits and ensure the Service Manager database is updated and accurate
  • Collaborate and maintain business relationships in order to meet and exceed client expectations with respect to business as usual and project activities
  • Thorough understanding of cabling best practices (EIA/TIA-568 standards)
  • Thorough understanding of IT hardware skills (HP, Cisco, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of network cabling diagnostics and testing practices
  • Good understanding of LAN/WAN/Telephony concepts e.g. TCIP, switches, routers, vLANs 

Must Haves:

  • Qualified candidate will have an Associates Degree or equivalent (2-5+ years) experience as a Datacenter Technician
  • Experience with network cabling, rack/stack, LAN, WAN and VLAN protocols
  • Handle tape backup media and prepare for offsite storage if applicable
  • Install, configure computer hardware systems
  • Help customers resolve complex hardware-based issues
  • A+ PC Technician certification preferred
  • Candidate must have ability to multi-task with complex technical issues and have customer-focused personality
  • Perform remote hands support e.g. power cycles, physical equipment and cabling inspections, swap out failed components, testing of copper and fiber cables, handle storage media, and enter troubleshooting commands
  • **This position is a 3:30 pm – 11:30 pm shift
