Position Objective:
The Planning Analytics Developer supports teams working with the Cognos Planning Analytics platform to build and support budgeting and planning models utilized by our Finance and Fleet departments.  Works very closely initially with our Finance organization and then transitions to our Fleet department and possibly other departments as the tool gains acceptance and a larger user base across the organization.  Acts as a mentor to BI team members and an advisor on many projects across multiple teams dealing with the Planning Analytics platform.

What you will be doing:

  • Creates and maintains Planning Analytics/TM1-based solutions
  • Ensures consistent design and integration of solutions
  • Acts as liaison and partner with other departments utilizing the Planning Analytics platform
  • Works with cross functional teams to develop solutions that accelerate delivery, automate cumbersome manual processes and ensure that financial results are accurate
  • Delivers high-performance solutions to the business
  • Works with the BI team to ensure solutions support the existing dimensional model
  • Performs data validation to ensure solutions delivers the most accurate results possible
  • Works with stakeholders (VPs, Directors, Managers, Engineers, Marketing, etc.) to assist with data-related technical issues and supports their data infrastructure needs
  • Works with the BI Team and architects to strive for greater functionality in our data systems

Must Have:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or another related field or equivalent experience
  • Must have 5+ years of Cognos Planning Analytics (TM1) experience in developing end-to-end analytics solutions, including system configuration, model building, data security and reporting – Preferably TM1 solutions involving P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow, and budgeting/forecasting models
  • Power MS Excel user with strong finance background
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on high-performance product development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting principles required in order to provide analytical support
  • Hands-on experience developing TI (Turbo Integrator) processes and complex rules
  • Knowledge of TM1 architecture and best practices for TM1 development
  • Possess general relational database concepts
  • Communication Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports. Ability to respond to inquiries or issues from internal customers or management. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
